Anne Day is a freelance photographer and writer based in New York and
Connecticut. Her work has appeared in Time, Newsweek, The New York
Times, The Washington Post, Fortune, Vogue and other publications. As a
photojournalist she has covered events in Haiti, Cuba, South Africa and
Namibia, as well as American Presidential Inaugurations, school picnics,
weddings, birthday parties and “grip and grin” events in New York City.
She has also worked on seven Day in the Life projects both as an
assignment editor and as a photographer.
In addition to working in journalism, she has many years of experience
photographing architecture. She is the principal photographer for three
books in the W. W. Norton Series on Classical Architecture on the Library
of Congress, the New York Public Library and the U.S. Capitol. Day is also an instructor at the highly acclaimed Maine Photographic Workshops.
Up Next: Day’s work will be featured in the forthcoming book, America At Home , as well as a book
about the American 20th century muralist Edwin Howland Blashfield to be published in 2008 by
W.W. Norton.
Stephen Huyler: "Daughters of India"
Stephen, is a cultural anthropologist, art historian, author, and widely exhibited photographer who has spent many months each year for the past thirty-seven years living in Indian homes, conducting interviews, and championing women’s art and identity through his books, lectures, and exhibitions. Huyler received his B.A. in Indian Studies at the University of Denver and his doctorate at the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies. His previous books include: Village India (1985), Painted Prayers: Women’s Art in Village India (1994), Gifts of Earth: Terracottas and Clay Sculptures of India (1996), and Meeting God: Elements of Hindu Devotion (1999). An exhibition entitled “India Adorned: Selections from Mingei International’s Stephen Huyler Collection” is running at the Mingei Museum in San Diego from July 12, 2008 through April 20, 2009.
Andy Arena:Photography at 104,000 Feet
Dr. Andy Arena is a Professor of Aerospace Engineering at Oklahoma State University, and has been on the faculty of the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for over 15 years. He conducts research and teaches courses in: aerospace design, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and aeroelasticity. He has been recognized with 15 college and national awards for teaching, and his aircraft design teams have won 5 international championships, and have set 4 world records for unmanned aircraft. Andy obtained his BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Arizona, and MS and PhD in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He presently lives in Stillwater, Oklahoma with his wife Heather, and children: Andy (18), Frank (15), and Mary (10). Andy and Heather will be celebrating their 20th anniversary this year.
